Yes: The low potassium is due to the diuretic in your medicine (the htc). This diuretic works toward the end of the kidney tubule and increases the loss of potassium. It is important to take the potassium chloride and have the blood level checked to be sure of improvement. Very low potassium levels can be dangerous.

I take 20 mg of lisinopril for hi BP. I also have GERD and take Gaviscon advance before bedtime, and occasionally after dinner too. The Gaviscon has potassium hydrogen carbonate. Can the combo of these two meds cause a hi blood potassium level?
