Yes: The low potassium is due to the diuretic in your medicine (the htc). This diuretic works toward the end of the kidney tubule and increases the loss of potassium. It is important to take the potassium chloride and have the blood level checked to be sure of improvement. Very low potassium levels can be dangerous.
