Ejection fraction: They are probably referring to "ejection fraction" (EF), or the amount of blood ejected from the left side of your heart when it contracts. Normal is 55-70%. An EF of 5% represent significant heart disease. EF is changed by heart condition and therapies prescribed. Follow the cardiologists recommendations closely, as the heart is at risk for concerning irregular rhythms when EF too low.
