A member asked:

Worried about hiv. blood work for stis including hiv @7wks after exposure was neg. not sure generation of test. how accurate are my results?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Accurate: They are very accurate, though seroconversion (starting to produce the anti-HIV antibodies that are detected by the test) may take several months from exposure. I would check again in 2 months to be sure. A viral load test would be accurate much sooner.
