Clexane is given: subcutaneously, which requires an area with lots of fatty tissues (more vascularized or access to blood vessels) rather than muscle (less vascularized or access to blood vessels) to be absorbed efficiently into the bloodstream. So it is not recommended to give Clexane (low molecular weight heparin) in the thigh which is much more muscular. The tiny subcutaneous needle should not hurt the baby.
