Hard to tell: But the inflammation from the poison ivy must take many days to resolve. Topical cortisone may hasten the recovery but needs be used with caution at the eyelids. In the meanwhile, be sure that anything contaminated with poison ivy be cleansed with a laundry detergent to avoid further exposure.

Typical ivy: Not serious but very annoying. Water is good for it. Soap or laundry detergent not relevant. Ivy reaction is allergic, not contagious. When you lie flat the eyelid swelling will be more, when you are erect it will subside. Usually on eyelid it does not itch even when severe itch is present elsewhere. Prednisone 20 to 40mg alternate days for 2 or 3 doses is best for face. Clobetasol gel is best oth
