A member asked:

In general, could a child with petit mal epilepsy only participate in roller figure skating. i've been coaching her for 3 months and am concerned for her safety.

I am not sure: However, i believe he/she can. But the best would be to ask a pediatrician/neurologist who knows the child. That is your address!

Probably ok; helmet: I would think that she should be able to. She of course needs to wear a helmet. Absence seizures (sometimes called petit mal) are usually very controllable with the right medicine, so hopefully she is seeing a good neurologist and has brought her seizures under control. If she has, there should be very little risk with absence seizures.
