A member asked:

Does a peg tube cause a choking sensation or a lump in the throat? i have redness around my peg tube, is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, but...: A PEG tube is down in the stomach, so doesn't affect the throat (presuming there wasn't an upper endoscopy procedure in the past few days). However, normal healthy people don't have PEG tubes, which means there could be some illness or disorder that relates to the throat and to the reason why a person has a PEG tube.
