Possible herpes: Very common to carry herpes for years with no symptoms or with symptoms which were not recognized. If you are concerned, you can both be tested for herpes type 1 and type 2. Culture is best done from an acute lesion. Blood tests can be done any time. If this is a primary (first ) infection the blood test will not show it until about 2 weeks. Condomes are very useful but not 100% foolproof.
