No specifics: There is no specific diet if you are hypothyroid. Most important is to make sure you take your medicine correctly: on empty stomach, at least 30 min before eating or taking any other meds ( including calcium supplements). Synthroid (thyroxine) absorption would be decreased by food consumption or other meds taken together.

First Rx thyroid: It is important to treat the thyroid disorder as it is an easily treatable condition. Foods will not make up for the medication needed to treat hypothyroidism. After that, a balanced diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains, low in saturated fats, non-use of tobacco and alcohol will do any one good.
