No set duration: People can develop allergies to animal dander or environmental allergens at any point in their life however its more common to first develop indoor and outdoor allergies and a child or young adult. If there is a concern for a cat allergy suggest seeing allergist and getting skin testing to confirm. That way more appropriate treatment can be prescribed.
