Depends: If you are using contraception, it may be normal to have just spotting for a menses. Some contraceptives thin the endometrial lining, and that is why only spotting occurs.There can also be other reasons for spotting during menses. Please see your provider for a complete discussion.

Spotting: Spotting may indicate that your blood Progesterone isn't high enough to support the uterine lining. If your trying to conceive i suggest an endometrial bx and blood Progesterone 1 week prior to period.
