May be a Virus: One possibility is that this could be a Herpes virus. Other names for this are cold sore and fever blister. The important thing to consider is that these are contagious and can be spread to others if touched. They can also spread to other parts of your body, if touched. It is important to get this examined. There are several ways to treat these and some ways to help them not come back.

Herpes simplex virus: also called cold sores. There is no cure for cold sores. However, some medications may relieve pain and soften HSV crusts on the skin. (e.g. pencyclovir cream). The healing is within 7-10 days. If concerned, see your PCP for consultaton.
