Herpes: This is a test for herpes simplex virus. It appears to be a non-type specific test, i.e. does not distinguish HSV type 1 from type 2. HSV1 is very common in healthy people; in some countries (probably including Iran), the majority of people have HSV1, the cause of oral herpes (cold sores). HSV2 is an STD; you can't have it if not at risk for STDs. Why was the test done? Discuss with your doctor.
