A member asked:

My child ( 2 years old girl) is taking pomegranate and guava for some days. now she is suffering from constipation. what might be the reason ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fluid intake: If the only change in her diet has been the increase intake of guava and pomegranate, then it is most likely that she needs more water or fluid intake, as both fruits have a good source of fiber and can make the stool bulky but need water to move it through the intestine. Some children this age will purposely stop the urge to have BM if they have experienced pain or are being potty trained.
