A member asked:

I'm 27, my tongue is pierced. once in a while the left side of the bottem ball hurts. i now have noticed black veins under my tongue. normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Trauma or.....: Trauma or infection are most common causes of soreness. Please see a Dentist. Trauma means tissue damage. Infection can spread. Please see a Dentist. Dark veins under tongue probably normal (sub-lingual veins). See a Dentist to make sure. Know that the balls can cause traumatic injury and recession to gums/bone. Balls can also fracture teeth. Tongue piercing just isn't healthy or smart.
