Carpal tunnel : Typical symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome are numbness, tingling, and/or pain in the thumb, index, middle and half of the ring finger. This can be particularly worse with activity or at night. Hand weakness and muscle wasting are advanced symptoms. Early treatment consists of night splinting, anti-inflammatories, injections, therapy. If symptoms persist, nerve studies and surgery may be needed

Symptoms and exam: Symptoms of carpal tunnel tunnel syndrome are typically numbness to the thumb, index and middle finger. You may also have pain and weakness in the hand. Symptoms are often worse at night and with activity such as driving or talking on the phone. Patients may have some or all of these symptoms. An evaluation by a doctor can determine if you are suspected of cts and this can be confirmed with tests.

Well, remember what: I recommended....1st you need to verify the Dx of CTS you say you have in both hands. Have you seen a neurologist, gotten an EMG &/or NCV study? If not, I would consider that mandatory for you to avoid unnecessary surgery. Next, conservative treatment should always be #1, #2, #3 things to consider before surgery. We like to expedite surgery based upon EMG results, loss of hand strength & pain.
