A member asked:

Husband has herniated disc,on 4 pain meds, had injections, still serve pain.cant see surgeon til feb. anything else that might ease pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Herniated disc: If medications, injections, rest, heat/ice, and physical therapy have been tried, but severe pain still persists, seeing an otlrthopedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon is critical. This is especially true if there is associated pain, numbess or weakness that radiates to either foot, bowel or bladder dysfunction, or groin numbness. Recommend MRI and eval with surgeon if symptoms present for >4 weeks
