A member asked:

I have a large (~1.5" dia) hematoma toward the top of my shin, bruising has gone away - very little pain. it's impinging on my tibialis anterior, which feels slightly weaker, is there reason for concern?

Possibly....: I presume there was trauma that caused the hematoma. The swelling associated with the hematoma could be pressing on a nerve. It is somewhat difficult to demonstrate weakness of this specific muscle. It is most likely a self-healing process, but I recommend you see your doctor for an evaluation. Good wishes:)

Bruise: You should apply warm compress to the area to help the absorption of the bruise. Once the bruise reduces in size then you will know if the nerve impingement will also resolve. You should have it evaluated with an orthopedist to make sure that there are no other causes of the impingement.
