If verapamil is a vasodilator how can it be a headache medicine when vasodilation caused headaches?

It is usually used as an anti hypertensive. It was also found to be effective in the treatment of headaches. Good Luck

The body is complex. The vasodilation theory of migraine posits excessive vasodilation which is the cause of the pain. This may be preceded by a increase in vasoconstriction (from unknown causes) which verapamil may block. Also, if headache is due to high blood pressure, lowering BP with meds including verapamil may relieve headache. May want to spend ~$20 and read uptodate.com for 1 month.
