Options: Birth control pills are a common choice to help with cycle control. They will help with most people but not everyone. I would get your HSG results and make sure all is normal. An HSG is a type of Xray so it is not likely to be the causes of your long period. If birth control does not help shorten and lighten them over the next few months there are many other options.
