A member asked:

Hello good afternoon, im reading my results and it says hepatitis b surface ab ql reactive, what does that mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Immunity: A positive or "reactive" Hepatitis B surface antibody (ab) result means that you are demonstrating immunity to the Hepatitis B virus either through successful vaccination or a previous acute Hepatitis B infection. Tests for Hepatitis B are generally ordered in a panel of at least 3 tests (HBsAg, HBsAb/Anti-HBs and HBcAb/Anti-HBc) and at least all 3 are needed to make a proper diagnosis.
