Immobilization: Sleep induces Immobilization of the lower extremities. Secondary blood stasis lead to clot formation, and inflammatory endothelial response, and the clot becomes adherent. next it may extend distally, into the thigh or pelvis. However still is proximally attached to the endothelium. Once the individual wakes up and moves, may break the clot at different levels and go into the lungs.
