If it's an infection: ...it might help. Impetigo often occurs around the lips or mouth. If it's an allergic reaction or irritation, then a mild cortisone cream might help. If it's a cold sore, an antiviral like acyclovir might work. Perioral rashes or sores can be caused by vitamin deficiency but, if you have a healthy diet, that's unlikely. Hope this helps. Dr. Anne
