Yes: The muscles and ligaments in an arm or leg will shorten and become stiff after being immobilized in the splint. Stretching the part after removal of the splint may cause low grade irritation to the structures. It is generally not harmful and It should resolve quickly with range of motion exercises or physical therapy.
