A member asked:

I have a question about bv and yeast infections. i have read horror stories online of having oral sex and sex with a yeast or bv infection and passing it on to a male partner. i have read that the male partner can go symptom free, but live with bacteria

Little if any risk: I think you're searching the web too hard for bad news! Some cases of BV in women may be related to cunnilingus (oral-vaginal contact), but no known risk to the oral partner of women with BV. Yeast can be transferred to the mouth, but it's uncommon and easy to treat if it happens. Most yeast infections aren't from another person, but increased growth of the person's natrual yeasts already present.
