Yes: Yes, retinoid will enhance effect of hydroquinone. Tretinoin should be cheaper than adapalene. But you may be disappointed. You may reduce the color but you will not erase the freckles. Prolonged use of hydroquinone sometimes results in paradoxical darkening of skin. It will effect the freckles much more than the surrounding pale skin. Best live with it, use sunscreen. TIME will fade the freckles
