Infection: The green color of the discharge is most likely due to a bacterial infection. You should get your child to an ophthalmologist right away, as she needs antibiotics drops, and possibly antibiotics to take orally. One needs to watch out especially for a cellulitis in the young, as the infection can spread even beyond the eye.
