No: But hyperthyroidism is a common cause. Also, you mention alcohol addition and that's one of the commonest causes. Also age over 70 is a common cause (noting your age).

Thyroid abnormality: Can lead to atrial arrhythmia but afib more common with hyper not hypothyroidism.
