Preventive treatment: Recurrent Candida vaginitis(CV) is usually due to failure to eradicate the infection rather than reinfection. Candida is part of the normal vaginal flora and is usually asymptomatic. Taking Fluconazole(Diflucan) weekly for 6 months, or OTC anti fungal vaginal creams for 10 days followed by a weekly vaginal suppository or twice weekly cream, can be effective in preventing reoccurrence.
