Late: Plan B may work but at best it is only 95% effective and that is if it is taken within the first 24 hr. after unprotected sex. The effectiveness falls the longer after sex it is taken. After the fact, taking it as soon as possible is the only option. Now, however, is the time for her to start a more reliable method of contraception if she isn't pregnant and use condoms to decrease the risk of STDs
