Ascites: Yes. Anything that causes increased pressure inside of the blood vessels of the abdominal cavity called the peritoneum or irritation to the membrane can cause fluid to leak out and accumulate. Liver disease such as cirrhosis, obstruction of the veins going into the liver, cancer, heart failure, kidney disease, diseases of the pancreas, ovarian cancer, infections are causes. See your doctor ASAP.
