Olive oil does not: darken the skin. Please be grateful that you have healthy skin and see the beauty in in. If you are around a lot of people w/similar skin tone it may be hard for you to appreciate what you have. Olive oil/ dark skin: Not that I am aware. Skin color due to melanin made by melanocytes in melanosomes- transferred to keratinocytes( top layer skin) . Skin/eye color due to more and different melanin. 2 basic types eumelanin -black/brown and pheomelanin red (red hair lips). Genes control amount &typeMelanin absorbs UV. In tanning more melanin made and it is oxidized so skin darkens. Oil hydrates less burn
