Depends: Your shortness of breath might be multifactorial. The mitral valve should not be responsible for you SOB. However, there is the SOB associated with the surgery itself which tends to resolve within 3-4 weeks. Someone with your history often times has a depressed ejection fraction. There is SOB related to this. It takes about 3 months for your EF to recover from reversible causes.

SOB: Discuss this with your Cardiologist. There are a multitude of possibilities. Your Cardiologist can give you the explanation or the work up which may be indicated. There isn't enough information here to advise more.
