A member asked:

What specific test (by name) should i ask my pcp to order for htlv-i and -ii? he has no clue.

Antibody test: Infection with both HTLV 1 and 2 can be diagnosed by antibodies to each of the viruses. Most people who have infection with either do not have any disease. Blood centers routinely test blood donors for antibodies to these viruses. See this site for more info. http://www.virology-online.com/viruses/HTLV4.htm
