May not be a culture: MDL might stand for Medical Diagnostic Laboratories, which is a company that makes and/or sells tests. Their tests do use PCR techniques, which detect the DNA or other genetic material from "germs". Not sure if MDL also makes or sells tests that are "culture" tests. One has to ask her doctor for details. Routine tests for older teens and adults usually screen for: chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Unknown: I don't understand "MDL" -- never heard this term in my 40 years in the STD business and don't know what an MDL culture is. It doesn't fit with an abbreviation for any bacteria or virus that I know about. Please post a new question to explain.
