Coffee: In the absence of psychiatric symptoms, coffee seems to have health benefits, and is likely not detrimental to your health. However, coffee can cause or worsen the symptoms of anxiety. If you notice this happening to you I would recommend eliminating caffeine. Coffee's energy boost may help depression, but often depression is accompanied by anxiety so pay attention to how you feel.

Coffee: Caffeine affects people differently, so I don't assume it is going to affect mood. Sometimes we will recommend some early morning caffeine consumption to help the person become alert. But I have people keep mood diaries, including caffeine consumption, sleep, and other factors. It is like an experiment where you change one variable at a time. I don't recommend drinking caffeine late in the day tho
