Sternocleidomastoid: It doesn't affect the tongue at all. It is connected to the mastoid process behind the ear and goes to the clavicle. It does not impact tongue motion. The tongue itself is mainly a muscle called the genioglossus. Many other muscles impact the motion of the tongue.
