Bulging fontanelle? : Worry is a wasted emotion, so i would never recommend it. However, a bulging fontanelle is not normal, and it is not caused by teething. If your baby is cranky with a full or bulging fontanelle then he needs to be immediately seen in the nearest emergency room. This time of year we see late summer viruses which can cause this, but it also may be caused by bacterial meningitis, which is deadly.

Probably not: Soft spot (anterior Fontanelle ) should be felt in sitting position. If child's soft spot is really bulging out or felt tense associated with unusual irritability or lethargy, seek a immediate medical attention.
