When i eat certain foods, like bread, i get a bump near the start of my throat, it goes away within an hour, could this be some kind of allergy?

Probably not: Most cases of food allergy involves symptoms in other organ system and itching noticeably the gastrointestinal tract and the skin. One possibility is whether you have sufficient saliva production . Another is an esophageal obstruction from eosinophilic esophagitis (the mechanism is still unclear but likely from food allergy). See dentist->ENT->GI until you get the answer.
