Tap water is safe: Generally, tap water in the USA is safe to drink. The chlorine in the water is necessary to prevent the growth of bacteria that could be harmful. Sometimes there may be local bans on tap water due to unusual emergencies, like water main breaks. Then, always follow local boil water advisories or use bottled water until the problem is fixed.
