Upper resp infxn: Viral upper respiratory infections, known as common cold, can take a while to resolve. Turns out phlegm color doesn't matter & viruses don't respond to antibiotics. It's been said that you'll get better after 7d w/antibiotics vs 1wk w/o antibiotics. Average duration of cough is 18d or almost 3wks so we recommend seeing your doc if short of breath or feeling worse in any way.
