Liver inflammation: The causative virus of mononucleosis can inflame many cells in the body including liver cells. When these cells are sufficiently inflamed, they can leak enzymes raising the at/alt counts slightly. This can happen even if one doesn't have clinical hepatitis. This very different from hepatitis a, b, c or d.
