Venous Reflux: Malfunctioning of the valves in the venous system can lead to reflux (blood going backwards). This can lead to increased venous pressure and then symptoms of aching, cramping, swelling and pain as well as varicose veins. If support hose does not help then you may need to consider a venous closure procedure. See a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation.
