A member asked:

My breast milk is pink. i have been pumping. my baby is 2 months old and i haven't seen this before. what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sore nipples?: I suspect the pink tinge in the milk is due to some blood in the milk. This most commonly happens if you have cracked/sore nipples. When the baby feed or you pump, there can then be some minor bleeding. Lanolin on the nipples may help, as may turning down the suction on the pumping device a bit. If these don't help, contact a lactation specialist or your doc for assistance and evaluation.
