Hernia?: Sometimes coughing can cause a groin hernia. This can be painful, and is sometimes associated with a lump that is bigger when standing or coughing. This is usually in the crease of the groin near the public bone. If the pain is higher on the abdomen, it is unlikely to be a hernia. An exam by your primary care doctor can help sort this out. Hope this helps!
