A member asked:

Are dry powder inhalers ever appropriately used as rescue inhalers, or are mdis the most appropriate choice?

Either one is ok: To use a medication as a rescue inhaler to treat asthma symptoms, the medication should be a fast-acting bronchodilator (whether it comes as a traditional metered-dose-inhaler or as a dry-powder-inhaler should not matter, as long as the patient has used the inhaler before, and did not get any problems such as side effects in the past).
