Recurrent herpes: outbreaks can usually be prevented by taking acyclovir on a daily basis. Starting acyclovir after an outbreak occurs may shorten the duration of the outbreak by a day or so. Neither acyclovir nor lysine will protect a partner during an active outbreak.

Recurrent herpes: is a painful and anxiety provoking problem. Breakouts will generally clear up on their own. Taking an antiviral agent such as acyclovir can reduce the time required for clearing. The frequency and severity of breakouts can be greatly reduced by taking a small dose of an antiviral regularly. Valtrex (valacyclovir) 2 g at first sign of breakout can prevent a breakout.

Don't be a sucker: l-lysine is COMPLETELY USELESS and a waste of money. Your therapy depends on the details. Herpes 1or 2? Face or genital or elsewhere? How often and how bad?Any sex partners? Acyclovir, famcyclovir, and valacyclivir orally are very effective if dosed correctly. Topicals are not worth discussion. The pills are very safe. They may be dosed daily or at the very first feeling of impending attack. Sunsc
