If untreated maybe: Death risk far higher if seizure generalizes to grand mal, and occurs while at heights or driving. Also, something called sudep, which is death during sleep. But, if one takes appropriate anti-epileptic drugs and prevents the seizures, these episodes are rare, if ever, and may very well have a normal lifespan.
