See answer: it is not abnormal to have irregular period every so often. Pregnancy must first be considered of course. If this is negative then a good history is important. If you were stressed or travelled or did anything out of your normal pattern this could offset the period for a bit. You would regulate again when the body adjusts

Dysfuctional Bleed: we call this dysfunctional uterine bleeding. If it continues for more than a week, see your GYN provider. You would need an evaluation and possibly medication to stop the bleeding. If the bleeding gets worse, you start becoming lightheaded or dizzy then you need to be seen Right away.
