Don't Worry: The lead shield along with the very low dosage of modern x rays means your baby was exposed to virtually no harmful radiation.

No: Today's Dental x-Rays are low dose, especially if digital. Collimating the beam and patient shielding limit the x-Rays to just your Craniofacial-facial area. You would experience more radiation spending a day in the mountains skiing. Make sure to tell your Orthodontic Specialist that you're pregnant. And congratulations!

No: Not only was the dosage low, but from your post you stated that the radiographs were taken 6 weeks ago, but you conceived 3 to 4 weeks ago, which means you had the radiographs before you even conceived.

Good question!: While it is not IDEAL to have X-rays while being pregnant, my personal opinion is: if you were covered by a "lead shield/apron" there should be NO possible penetration of X-rays to the baby. But if you had X-Rays done BEFORE you were pregnant ->> NO PROBLEM! Good luck and stay well !-)

Safe, no worries: During the first trimester dental x-rays, especially digital, are considered safe during pregnancy .

No: no, you will be fine with any dental xray. I always put a double apron on my pregnant patients but you can have xrays done at any time with no harm to the child. guidelines have change but I still reserve the right to not take them on a pregnant patient if they so wish, but I still educate them on their non-dental risks.

HIGHLY UNLIKELY: Digital x-rays use EXTREMELY low radiation. Add to that the fact that you likely wore a lead vest. Like the other docs said, I would not worry-- you and your baby will be fine. CONGRATS!
